Getting Around Vietnam
Choosing what mode of transport to use within Vietnam will depend on your length of stay and budget. Popular choices include flights, trains, buses, hire cars and motorbikes.
Vietnam Flights
There are several ways to get around Vietnam but by far the quickest and easiest is by air. Flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi run frequently and take a short 130 minutes.
Travel within Vietnam by air is the perfect option for anyone wanting to see the country on a tight timeframe. In many cases you will find that flights within Vietnam are often cheaper than taking the train.
Vietnam Trains
If you have time, taking the train from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi is a wonderful way to see the everchanging Vietnamese landscape. The journey from Saigon Railway Station (Ho Chi Minh City) to Hanoi Railway Station is around 1,726 kilometres and takes approximately 33 to 36 hours to complete.
If you don’t have time to do the entire trip from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, consider taking the shorter Hanoi to Da Nang train journey. No matter which routes you choose, there is a choice of seating and cabin options to suit every budget.
Vietnam Buses
There are a variety of bus companies that run the length and breadth of Vietnam. Choices range from minibuses to large overnight sleeper buses with layback bunk beds.
Vietnam Hire Cars & Motorbikes
For anyone brave enough to tackle Vietnams chaotic traffic a hire car or motorbike is an option which will guarantee freedom.
